About Our Firm

The firm was formed in 1984 by Harvey K. Faulkner and Joseph C. King. Prior to 1984, this office was a satellite office of Potter & Company, a regional accounting firm based in Lexington, Kentucky. The Mt. Sterling office opened in the 1960s and continued in business there until its conversion into Faulkner & King in 1984. Today the firm, known as Faulkner, King, and Wenz, PSC has a professional staff of 12 degreed accountants, including eight CPAs.

Our firm is a member of the Kentucky Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs, including the AICPA’s Audit Quality Centers for Employee Benefit Plans and Governmental Audits. Requirements of such membership include an average of more than 40 hours of continuing professional education per year for each professional employee, along with a “peer review” by an independent outside firm every three years. Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC has successfully completed all of its peer reviews since the inception of the Peer Review Program in 1990, receiving unqualified opinions. This office also provides peer review services to other accounting firms, having performed over 450 peer reviews of other accounting firms since 1990.

Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC currently serves clients located primarily in Central and Eastern Kentucky. The firm performs annual financial statement audits, as well as annual compilation financial and statement services for several of our clients. Industries include banking and other financial institutions, retirement plans, construction, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, professional services, governmental units, non-profit organizations, as well as a variety of other types of businesses. We also provide consulting and income tax preparation and planning services to individuals, partnerships, corporations, fiduciaries, and other business entities.
